BETHANY EVANGELISM GROUP

The next Evangelism meeting is scheduled for July 11, 2010 immediately following worship. Every member of Bethany is invited to join the group and all are asked to pray for the evangelism work of Bethany congregation.

Many activities are in the works as we seek ways that might enable us to share and spread the Good News to our neighbors. As we mentioned in a previous newsletter article, our hope is to involve every member of Bethany in our evangelism efforts. Evangelism is not just a committee responsibility, but a responsibility that we all share. Keep in mind that the role of the evangelism group is not necessarily to add to Bethany's membership roster (if it is God's will that through these efforts our membership increases, that would of course be wonderful), but our mission is to share and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.

We are soliciting "Prayer Warriors"
If you are unable to physically participate in Bethany's evangelism group efforts, we are asking for your help as a "Prayer Warrior." This task is vitally important to our efforts because without the help of the Lord, our activities mean nothing. If you would like to help in this way, please pick one of the following activities, and pray for the Lord to work through these efforts. Talk with any of the evangelism group members, and let us know what activity you will be praying for.

We invite all members to join us. We usually meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the social hall.

Our on-going agenda items include:

1. Door Hanger "Invitations"
Our effort of hanging invitations on the doors of homes in Dormont is continuing. We usually distribute the invitations on Saturday mornings, beginning at 7:30 a.m. If you would like to join us, consider yourself invited. If you aren't able to do the walking, please consider becoming a "Prayer Warrior" for this effort.

2. "Drinks in the Park"
We are also continuing our program of providing free beverages at the playground in Dormont park on Saturdays throughout the summer from approx. 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is fun to see and talk with young children and their parents. We especially need "Prayer Warriors" for this effort.

3. Dormont Street Fair merchandise inventory
Anna Williams and Sandy Baker are working through a wealth of items that we will be giving away at Dormont's annual street fair and as prizes at our upcoming Community Fellowship Dinner and Family Game Night.

4. Welcome Bulletin Boards
Anna and Sandy have refreshed all of the bulletin boards in the church. If you have an idea for new bulletin board content, please get in touch with Anna or Sandy. As an example, you might choose to write a brief "history of Bethany" that would be the featured topic for a month. Or you might choose to write a brief "history of Bethany's Thanksgiving Dinner"... or you might choose to write a testimonial about your experience(s) at Bethany... or you might choose to write about your favorite Bible verse(s). Think of our bulletin boards as "billboards" within our building!

5. Welcome to New Residents of Dormont
As a gesture of Christian love for our new neighbors, we are especially interested in welcoming new homeowners in the Dormont community. We have delivered a couple Welcome Baskets so far, and we are sending personal invitations to new homeowners in Dormont, inviting them to our Community Fellowship Dinner on July 21st.

6. Community Fellowship Dinner - July 21st
All members of Bethany, members of the other churches in Dormont, and all residents of the community are invited to attend a Community Fellowship Dinner on Wednesday, July 21st at 6:30 p.m. It will be a casual (come as you are) affair featuring a picnic theme and picnic menu (hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.). There will be good food, good fellowship, entertainment, and free door prizes. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. If you can't make it, please consider being a "Prayer Warrior" for this event.

7. Family Game Night
As a follow-up to the Community Fellowship Dinner, we will be inviting our local neighbors to a Family Game Night on August 4th beginning at 7:00 p.m. There will be good snacks, drinks, fun, fellowship and free prizes! This will also be a casual (come as you are affair). Mark your calendar and plan to attend!

For anyone who might be interested in inviting friends, neighbors, relatives, or others to worship with us, we have a supply of postcards available (design is shown below). The postcards are blank on the back side, offering space for you to write an address, a brief note of personal invitation, and add a stamp. If you would like to have some of these, please see or contact Mark Gulden.
